The very first PWBC meeting took place last week and while it was a small group we definitely had a great discussion. Wounded turned out to be a very different love story than what I was expecting based on the summary on the back cover. When you think of a young black woman being the main character of a story with such a title. Your mind most likely shifts to ideas of infidelity, young motherhood, violence etc. Claudia Mair Burney definitely surprised us with a refreshing depiction of a young black mother's love for Christ while battling real live physical wounds. Yes. A Stigmatic. Facing this miracle, The main character was presented with many new people in her life and had to quickly learn to discern their characters in order to keep herself and her child safe from the media and any other people who may try to take advantage of her. Trusted sources became not so trustworthy, while a perfect stranger became the perfect love. All in all it was a great read.
Go read it!
May's Book Choice: Straight, No Chaser by Steve Harvey.
Don't judge! This WILL be a bomb discussion.
