Quote of the day...

"The quickest way to bring the insecurities out of a woman is to put her around a woman that exudes confidence...watch her hate."

That's in response to a comment board in the original article from the "Question of the Day" post.

After a couple back and forths, I said:

"You could sit and make separation out of everything. Fact of the matter is, at some point you have to take it upon yourself to recognize your own beauty and not depend on the media, because if you waited for the media to include a representation of every single person, you would be waiting forever and it still wouldn’t change how you feel about yourself. If you think you are beautiful, the inclusion of someone who looks exactly like you would make you feel no more or less beautiful. It wouldn’t matter. That is my point. "
To which a commenter who calls herself "guest" said:

"That's fine and dandy. When EVERY WOMAN IN THE UNIVERSE thinks like you do in Mamby Pamby Land--la da da, la da da...... "im strong im beautiful and no one can bring me down ever! VIVA AGIULARA!"  Then your point will be totally vaild. At the end of day, every woman wants to shine. And I think they should."

So I'm wrong for looking within myself for my confidence and encouraging others to do the same? Is the idea of women having their OWN self confidence so lofty? Does she have to constantly attack my opinions to justify her argument? Like every comment I made she made a mockery of, or used a negative adjective to describe it. Sad, but whatever. At the end of the day, you can choose to mope around and pick out something wrong with everything you look at, it won't make you feel better. You will just continue to be stuck.

I hope that women can find it in themselves to know that they are beautiful in their own right and don't need the validation of anyone or anything. No man, no commercial, no magazine, no music video. Let's not wait for someone else to validate what we already know about ourselves. We are ALL beautiful.

First, I AM BEAUTIFUL!!! Second, I agree we should all have our own self confidence and know that we are beautiful despite what the media displays.

I would like to see more dark-skinned women, plus size women, more midget women, etc. in the media. I am light/brown skin and I see myself portrayed, but that's not what tells me I'm beautiful. It started with my mother and then with age I realized, I AM BEAUTIFUL. My reason for wanting to see a bigger variety of women displayed in the media is to show young ladies that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. I think it is important to display every spectrum of the rainbow. But I also think it is important to KNOW FOR YOURSELF that you are beautiful.

Sorry I wrote so much LOL
